The Lovely Bones
The new book I am reading not for the second semester novel, but just in my own time that I will probably do for extra credit is "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. This book is really different to me simply for the fact that it is in the persepective of the young girl murdered who is telling her story, but she is already in heaven. To me that is kind of weird, just because once your in heaven I dont think people would be able to hear you, and you wouldnt be able to discuss all your thoughts with someone who isnt in heaven with you like us the readers. This book so far has really touched me though, and the way she describes everything is neat, it really gives you a feel for what her family, and friends are like. The man who killed Susie, who is the main character I think is a jerk and is very cruel. The fact that she isnt the first one he has done something like that to, makes me sick to my stomach to think he gets away with it and goes on living normally. I am really excited to read this book along with my novel for the second semester which I decided "Room" look and sounded really interesting. The only thing I can complain about in this book is the fact that there are alot of parts that I feel dont really matter, and kind of make me want to skip over them, and when reading a book that I think looks good it is kind of dissapointing to have that happen. I am not very far in, only chapter 11 so I am hoping it gets more interesting as it goes on, because at the begining all the excitement and important parts are told right away. I will keep everyone updated though.

I thought The Lovely Bones was interesting for the very same reason! We find out what was happened in the very first sentence! When I read it I wondered, "Where will it go from here?"
ReplyDeleteI thought the way she portrayed the destruction the death had on the family was very powerful.
